"Our young people need to be oriented to this life… initiated into the wisdom of the ages."

My number one goal in life is to be a part of the solution to making this world a better place for our next generation.  I have been deeply inspired by the youth in our society that find themselves institutionalized; either in the juvenile justice or foster care systems.  These “at-risk” youth are angry, disillusioned, depressed and ultimately lost in a system that is broken.  My goal is to revolutionize the juvenile justice and foster care systems through arts and culture programs that foster emotional intelligence and self-knowledge through an ethic of compassionate discipline and honest mentorship.

Mentorship- Each one Teach one… or more!!

  • Ashley- Formal Mentoring Programs, such as the JRA (Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration) program, provide some formal training and support for mentors and place you into a mentoring role with a youth in need.
  • Ayla- Often times our jobs give us opportunities, if not responsibilities, to mentor young people.  I created the Artists as Mentors Program to more fully develop the concept of mentorship that has formed in my heart and mind over the course of these last six or seven years.
